A SCHOOLBOY told police how he was raped by a 55-year-old man after a New Year’s Eve party at a house – then threatened to keep quiet or his family would get hurt.

Scott Guilfoyle has admitted being at the celebrations at a house in Accrington, to welcome in 2014, and sharing bunk beds with the boy, Burnley Crown Court was told.

But he has denied seriously sexually assaulting the youngster as they shared bunk beds after the party and then attempting to get him to perform an indecent act.

Paul Brookwell, prosecuting, said Guilfoyle was a guest at the party, on New Year’s Eve 2013, when he made arrangements to stop over. He took the lower bunk, in one of the bedrooms, while the boy slept above.

Halfway through the night, he went to the bathroom and on his return, Guilfoyle is alleged to have said: “Come here a minute, I want to tell you something.”

Mr Brookwell said Guilfoyle grabbed the boy and threw him down on the bed. He is said to have held him down, before pulling down his pants and raping him.

The boy later told police he tried to scream but the older man put his hand over his mouth, prompting him to try and bite him.

Guilfoyle is alleged to have stopped and then tried to molest the boy again, trying to force him into a sex act, the court heard.

Mr Brookwell told jurors: “The defendant threatened (the boy) not to tell anyone or the consequences would be that he, or his family, would get hurt.”

The court heard the boy went back to sleep after the incident. He would only tell his mother about what he said happened that night in March 2015.

Guilfoyle, of Bolton Road, Blackburn, was arrested shortly afterwards and interviewed at Greenbank police station.

He admitted that he was at the party and had shared a room with the boy. But he denied any sexual contact took place.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and attempted rape. The trial continues.
