AN ALTHAM uniform supplier was awarded two trophies at the recent Professional Clothing Awards, adding to its growing haul of industry awards.

Olympic suit designer Simon Jersey collected an award for best stock design for its fashionable jumpsuit designed for beauty therapists.

Helen Harker, the company’s design manager, also received the long service award for her contribution to the industry in a career that has lasted more than a quarter of a century.

The company was also highly commended for its most recent uniform catalogue which features some of the stars of Team GB.

Simon Jersey is the first uniform company to supply Team GB and will provide suits for formal events in the UK and Rio ahead of this summer’s Olympics, as well as the outfits athletes will wear in the closing ceremony.

The awards recognise the best companies, people and products in the sector which provides every type of uniform.

Judged by peers and textile experts they are regarded as the top awards for workwear businesses.

Simon Jersey’s most recent wins follow an award from the Guild of Beauty Therapists which recognised the company as the UK’s best uniform supplier.

James Saunders, Simon Jersey managing director, said: “It’s always fantastic to be recognised by your peers and we were thrilled to have our products judged as some of the best in the industry.

“We’re over the moon for Helen too. She’s been a key figure in the industry for many years, constantly aiming to innovate and inspire the team at Simon Jersey and beyond. Her award is very well-deserved.”

Helen Harker has worked in the design team at Simon Jersey for nearly 28 years. She is responsible for one of the world’s most iconic uniforms, Emirates Airlines, as well as leading the team who created the designs for Team GB.

She said: “I’m truly passionate about what I do and creating uniforms that enhance brands by making their staff look and feel their best every day.

"It feels wonderful to have been given the award, especially in such a special year when we have the opportunity to dress Team GB for the Olympic Games.”
