A CANNABIS farm in Accrington town centre has been shut down following a police raid.

Officers found 116 cannabis plants being grown on the top floor of an empty business premises.

The raid came as a result of numerous reports from the community informing officers of the farm.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “On Friday, July 29, local neighbourhood policing officers executed a misuse of drugs warrant at an empty business premise which is situated within Accrington town centre.

“Numerous Intelligence reports had been received from the community informing local officers that a cannabis factory had been set-up within the empty business premises.

“Officers have obtained a warrant which was executed at the property locating 116 cannabis plants being grown on the top floor.

“Officers have dismantled the whole set up and will be conducting further enquiries regarding the incident.

“Officers would like to the thank the local community in providing the intelligence enabling the warrant to be obtained.”
