POLICE today appealed for witnesses after a motorcyclist suffered 'serious' injuries after colliding with several cars in Rishton last night.

Police were called to the incident in Hermitage Street at around 8.50pm where a 35-year-old man riding a Honda 125 had sustained 'severe' leg injuries after initially being in collision with a Honda Civic.

The road was closed for around three hours.

The motorcyclist was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman said this afternnon: "We are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured following a collision in Rishton.

"At around 8.50pm last night a black Honda Civic was conducting a U-turn on Hermitage Street when it was involved in a collision with a red and white Honda motorcycle.

"The motorcycle then collided with a parked Citroen C4 before the rider was thrown from the bike and collided with a parked Transit van.

"The motorcyclist, a 35 year old man, sustained serious injuries to his legs and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains."

Sergeant Claire Pearson of the Road Policing Unit said: “This collision has left the motorcyclist with very serious injuries and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen the motorcycle prior to the incident, to contact us as soon as possible.”
