A HEADTEACHER who is retiring after 37 years has said she will ‘miss everything’ about school life.

Christine Taylor, will be saying goodbye to Mellor St Mary CE Primary School after joining in 1979.

The mum-of-three taught a year three/four class and became the head in 2000.

Originally from Skipton, the 60-year-old will be holding a re-union at the school in Brundhurst Fold, on Saturday.

Past and present pupils have been invited to attend and reminisce about their school experience.

Mrs Taylor said: “I will miss everything about this school, it’s been such an amazing journey for me.

“I’ve taught so many children who have gone on to do wonderful things, it’s fantastic.

“It’s hard to pin down a specific highlight from my career as there have been so many, but what drew me to teaching was the team work.

“Working with teachers and children is very fulfilling and it’s definitely been a passion of mine.”

The reunion will also feature a display of photographs, DVDs, art work and memorabilia in the class rooms.

There will be songs played by the schools jazz band and refreshments will be provided.

Mrs Taylor said: “I hope lots of pupils turn up as it would be great to talk about the differences in their school education.

“It’s amazing to see how different things are now. I remember there being one very old, clunky computer in the entire school., now the classrooms are full of electronic gadgets.

“I will be sad to go, but I can’t wait to spend time in Australia with family.”

The reunion begins at 2pm. and will finish at around 8pm.
