A 19-YEAR-OLD man who refused to accept police advice to calm down ended up being Pava sprayed and arrested.

Blackburn magistrates heard officers had been called by Andrew Matthew Tait’s mother, who said he was smashing the house up.

Tait, 19, of St Peter Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer. He was fined £80 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

Dominic Howell, prosecuting, said when police arrived at the house in Kirby Road, Blackburn, they tried to calm Tait but when they went to arrest him for a breach of the peace he began to struggle violently.

Richard Prew, defending, said Tait became upset when the police said they were going to arrest him for a breach of the peace.
