CCTV images have been released by police of a man they want to speak to after a 12-year-old boy was assaulted on a bus.

The incident happened at around 3.25pm on Monday, June 20 when the boy was on the bus on his way home from school.

It is thought to have been on Manchester Road when a man grabbed him around the neck. The boy suffered some redness and bruising to his neck as a result.

PC Matt St Pierre of East Division said: "This appears to have been an unprovoked assault on a schoolboy as he made his way home on the bus.

"We would like to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV images in connection with the incident and I would urge anyone who recognises him to contact us."
