POLICE are appealing for information after a cyclist was injured during a hit-and-run in Blackburn.

The incident occurred shortly before 8.45pm on June 22 on Whalley Old Road, at the junction with Birley Street.

It is believed the cyclist and a red-coloured car collided, leaving the 59-year-old cyclist with cuts and bruises. He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and an investigation is now being carried out to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

PC Michael Higginson, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “We would like to trace anybody who can provide some information about this incident, which left a man requiring hospital treatment.

“An investigation is underway to establish what may have happened and we would welcome any information that can assist with this.

“Similarly, if you have any information about who may have been driving the red car which we believe was involved we would also urge you to get in touch.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1530 of June 22nd 2016.
