AN out-of-school club has been awarded the highest rating from Ofsted in its most recent inspection.

Kidsland Limited at St Barnabas CE Primary School was rated ‘outstanding’ by the education watchdog after a previous rating of ‘good’.

The inspector, Cath Palser, praised staff for ‘actively involving and engaging parents’ to establish what children can already do and celebrate their achievements.

The report also highlighted that children’s physical and emotional well-being were promoted ‘incredibly well’ and that the youngsters were ‘confident, active and independent learners’.

Yvonne Harkness, provider at the club, said that after putting in so much effort she was delighted with the inspection result. She said: “We are absolutely thrilled. We have focused on all aspects of our care and thought about how we can make it better.”

“One thing I have to say is that I have tremendous staff and I think it all comes down to that really, and the excellent training we have.”

Ofsted also praised the club for supporting staff well and credited the management team for providing ‘carefully targeted training and supervision’.

The management team were described as having ‘high expectations’, using a range of methods to regularly seek the views of staff, parents and children.
