A STUDENT was delighted to find a T-shirt that he designed himself worn on stage by a famous rap star.

Ebrahim Patel, from Audley, Blackburn, was encouraged to design a T-shirt by his friend for him to take along to a meet and greet with Skepta before his show in Manchester.

Ebrahim had already posted a photo of the shirt on Instagram, with Skepta, who has released four albums and is also a songwriter and record producer, but he was delighted to see him wearing the shirt.

The 19-year-old said: “It was pretty amazing for it just to be seen by someone like him.

“It’s a big deal, nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

“It was mad, people were saying they’ve been inspired by me, it was a pretty amazing feeling.”

The Blackburn College student is currently studying for his art and design foundation degree, and is going to study at London College of Fashion in September.

T-shirt designing is a project Ebrahim does in his spare time away from his academic studies, highlighting his work ethic and passion for fashion.

He admitted he would not have had the chance to design the shirt without his friend, Habib Khalil, who even bought the original T-shirt from Sports Direct for Ebrahim to use for his design.

He then kept the fact he had designed the T-shirt for Skepta quiet, apart from telling a few friends, and those close to him were delighted when his ambition came true.

Ebrahim added: “I talked to a few of my mates, they said how amazing it would be if he actually wore it.

“My friends were really excited when it happened, they were telling their families.

“My parents were really proud of me.”

Ebrahim’s college tutor, Jamie Holman, had further praise for the student after this success, and believes he is a credit to a highly successful course.

He said: “Ebrahim is really interesting, he’s very engaged in youth culture.

“He’s very self-motivated and determined, and the whole group has profited from this.

“Its not unusual for students on this course to be successful, it’s a high achieving course, lots of people are going on to London College of Fashion and have had mentions in national press.”
