OFFICERS have issued CCTV images of a man who allegedly distracted a pensioner at a cash machine before withdrawing £300 from her account.

The 83-year-old woman was targeted by the man as she used the cash machine close to Barclays Bank in Bank Street, Rawtenstall, at around 11.35am on April 27.

As she was withdrawing cash a man approached and distracted the her by waving a piece of paper in her face. The thief then withdrew £300 from her account before running off.

The thief is described as an Asian, in his mid to late 20s, wearing a dark blue baseball cap with a Nike logo, a light grey hooded jacket with dark grey shoulders and hood, light blue skinny jeans and Nike branded dark coloured trainers with white soles.

PC Lee Burdis, of Burnley Police, said: "We would appeal to anyone who recognises this man to contact police immediately.

"The victim was targeted by the offender due to her vulnerability.

"We have had similar reports in Rossendale in the past month and would ask for the community's help in locating this man."
