CELEBRATIONS for the Queen's 90th birthday are coming to Gaskell Community Primary School and Nursery.
To commemorate Her Majesty's upcoming milestone pupils held a special assembly in her honour and took part in a range of activities to learn more about their Queen.
As the longest reigning monarch the children learnt about the history of Queen Elizabeth II, who will celebrate her birthday today.
A further celebration will be held on June 21 nationally in honour of her 64 year reign.
Headteacher Emily Kirk said: "To commemorate the Queen's 90th birthday we are holding a special assembly in her honour.
"All the children will be taking part in range of activities to learn more about her reign.
"They will also be treated to a special red, white and blue birthday cake to celebrate.
"In June, we will be holding a special tea party to celebrate her official birthday."
The children will also be learning about the Commonwealth, the Queen’s family tree, her role and other members of the Royal Family.
