SAM Vokes will make final preparations with Wales for Euro 2016 this week and next, but admits he is not even contemplating this summer’s tournament until he has got Burnley back into the Premier League.

The striker is set to play a central role for Chris Coleman’s side in warm-up games against Northern Ireland, tomorrow night, and away to Ukraine on Easter Monday, following injury to Reading forward Hal Robson-Kanu.

But while Vokes will give his all for Wales to give himself the best chance of being involved in France, he admits it is not at the forefront of his mind given the Clarets’ promotion push.

“I’m trying not to talk about the summer too much because got some big games when we go back with Burnley,” he said.

“With eight games left of the season it’s a big chance to kick on.

“It’s going well personally and as a team at Burnley we’ve done really well in 2016 and turned a corner.

“It was a big thing for me to come back after my injury.

“It was nine months out but it I think it took a bit longer really to get my match fitness back up to it, and I really feel like I’m firing back to where I was probably before the injury now.”
