A WOMAN is due to appear in court next month after a dog was said to attack a passer-by.

Wendy Gorrie has been charged with possessing a dangerous dog following the incident on Thursday and will appear at Burnley Magistrates on Tuesday, March 15.

The 44-year-old from Cairo Street, Burnley, was arrested after armed police were scrambled to the street after receiving reports that a dog tried twice to attack a granddad-of-three.

Nigel Cunningham, 53, said that the brown Dogue de Bordeaux moved to bite him while walking near his home in Allerton Drive and then again in a yard at the back of neighbouring Cairo Street.
