A MUM-OF-TWO from East Lancashire has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year's Miss British Isles competition.

Louise Warren-Beck will represent Colne in the national competition and hopes to take home the crown after the two day contest on March 19 and 20.

The 24-year-old came across the contest on a casting website and decided to apply for the first time.

Louise is a business development director for Colne-based company X Green Clean and is married to Sean.

She has two daughters, Maisie, six, and Matilda, three.

Louise said: "I am really excited because I have never done anything like this before.

"I wanted to prove that even if you are married and have children, you can still take part in competitions like this.

"I can't wait to wear my gown which I will not be revealing until the night.

"I really want to thank my sponsors XLCR Vehicle Management Limited and 'So Beautiful' for making my gown because without them it wouldn't have been possible."

The annual competition is based online and those 12 competitors, who make the grade will go on to compete in the final.

The winner of the competition receives a cash prize of £3,000 and a guaranteed modelling contract as well as a £500 designer pageant dress.

They also will hold the title for 12 months until the next competition takes place.

Second and third place prizes include a £1,000 portfolio and professional photoshoot with leading modelling agencies in the UK.

The final will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool.

The entrants are monitored by judges on their interviews skills, their modelling skills during photoshoots and take part in a swim wear round.

Howard Smith, event organiser said: "We get entries every year as it is a really popular event.

"This year we ourselves decided to raise the first prize to £3,000 in cash including a guaranteed modelling and promotions contract.

"Past winners of Miss British Isles organised competitions have modelled in America, signed to Top Modelling Agencies and appeared on TV and in a Bollywood movie so there are a lot of great opportunities.

"Miss British Isles is one of a very limited number of modelling competitions and pageants which allows married girls and mothers to take part.

"Louise is a perfect example of a busy working mum and we look forward to her taking part in Miss British Isles in March."
