A MAJOR road going though Burnley was closed off following a crash involving a car and a motorbike.

The incident, involving a black Honda CBR and a white Nissan Qashqai, happened in Todmorden Road at around 11.15am.

The male motorbike rider was taken to Burnley General Hospital with a leg injury, which is not thought to be serious.

He was also said to be bleeding from the mouth and nose. The female driver of the car was said to not be seriously injured.

The A671 Todmorden Road in Burnley was closed until 2pm in both directions between the Parliament Street junction and the Temple Street junction.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.15am this morning to a road traffic collision in Todmorden road.

"We attended to a male with leg injuries, He was taken to Burnley General Hospital.”
