AN East Lancashire ice hockey player struck lucky after winning a date on ITV's hit dating show Take Me Out.

But Blackburn Hawks player, Rick Ravey, has remained tight-lipped about how he and his date Ashleigh got on during their trip to the Isle of Fernados.

The 25-year-old from Helmshore appeared on the primetime show on Saturday and had the challenging task of trying to win over 30 women all looking for love with his so called 'Blackburn charm'.

He came down in the lift to Calvin Harris' 'How deep is your love' impressing all but one of the girls.

Under the watchful eye of the show's host Paddy McGuiness, Rick, glided through the rounds even showcasing his ice skating skills and dancing to Michael Jackson 'Billie Jean'.

The former Haslingden High school pupil said: “I really enjoyed appearing on the show and I would recommend it to anyone.

“It’s a great way to meet new people, have a laugh and catch some sun.

“I got on really well with the girl that chose me, Ashleigh, but people will have to wait until next week to see how the date went."

Rick went down a storm with the ladies, with many commenting on his athletic physique.

However, things nearly took a turn for the worse when Paddy asked Ashleigh if she would like to know who his 'love at first light' was and he revealed it was fellow contestant Amy.

The health coach, came to the attention of the show's producers via Facebook, after originally applying to be on the show a few years ago He travelled down to ITV's studios in Maidstone, Kent, for filming.

Rick, of Knowl Meadows, Helmshore, who has played ice hockey since he was a youngster, was also filmed at Blackburn Ice Arena and team mates were interviewed for the show He said: “It was a bit nerve racking.

“Overall the show was a great experience for me and I’m glad I went on it.”
