AN East Lancashire ice hockey player will be looking for love on ITV's hit dating show Take Me Out.

Blackburn Hawks player, Rick Ravey, 25, will try and win a date with one of 30 lucky women this Saturday.

Hosted by tv favourite Paddy McGuiness, Rick will try and win the ladies' affections through a series of rounds, which will include friends giving their opinions on him and him showcasing his ice skating skills.

The health coach, came to the attention of the show's producers via Facebook, after originally applying to be on the show a few years ago He travelled down to ITV's studios in Maidstone, Kent, for filming.

The former Haslingden High school pupil said: "I just wanted to have a laugh and meet some new people. I didn't care about getting a date."

The episode is screened at 8pm on ITV1 and viewers will have to wait and see whether he ends up with the woman of his dreams.

 


Rick, of Knowl Meadows, Helmshore, who has played ice hockey since he was a youngster, was also filmed at Blackburn Ice Arena and team mates were interviewed for the show.

During the show Rick had to demonstrate a special talent which involved ice skating and singing but added he felt the pressures of long hours filming.

He said: "They were always listening and we were always being filmed.

"I couldn't imagine being on something like Geordie Shore being filmed 24/7. At least we got breaks. It did give me a sense of what it is like to be on TV and it has not put me off at all and the film crew were easy to work with."

Although the show has not yet been aired he has already gained lots of new Facebook and Twitter followers.

He said: "It was a bit daunting to begin with but just a massive adrenaline rush.

"It was just an amazing experience."
