BEN Mee has lifted the FA Youth Cup as captain of Manchester City, but has never experienced any kind of senior FA Cup success with Burnley.

The Clarets have exited the third round of the competition for the last four seasons.

But Mee, who has been with the club since the summer of 2011, is hoping to end that barren streak at the Riverside tomorrow.

"The FA Cup’s definitely something you want to do well in, and if we can beat Middlesbrough it would be decent because obviously they beat us a couple of weeks ago," said the defender.

“It would be nice to go there and get a win.

“We haven’t had too much of a run since I’ve been here so it would be nice to have a cup run for sure."

But while Burnley have been strong at home this season, the 26-year-old knows that curing their travel sickness will be key.

The Clarets have not won on the road since their derby triumph against bitter rivals Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park in October.

“We’ve picked up a few decent results (at home) recently. We need to start doing it away from home in the big games," he said.

“We’ve done it before so I don’t see why we can’t do it again.

"I’m sure it will turn around for us away from home."

Burnley have recorded clean sheets in each of their last three home games, with Mee in his favoured centre half role for the last two.

“I’m enjoying it," he said.

"I enjoy being in the team, of course, and hopefully we can keep a few more clean sheets.

“We’ve had two good starts with clean sheets in the last two games.

“We’ll see how it goes."

Two of those three clean sheets have come with Mee inside at his favoured centre back position, alongside Michael Keane, and he is relishing the role:

Burnley will look to take their home form, where they have won eight of 13 games, scoring 25 goals, on their travels, where they have netted only nine in 12 games, winning three.

On the back of three-successive home clean sheets, Mee said:

An FA Youth Cup-winning captain with Manchester City in 2008, Ben Mee is yet to taste victory in the senior competition.

And he is out to put that right tomorrow at Middlesbrough.

The 26-year-old is in his fifth season with Burnley, and has only featured in three FA Cup ties, two last season - a 1-1 third round draw with Spurs and subsequent 4-2 replay defeat, and a 4-1 loss at Norwich in 2012.

Burnley have failed to win an FA Cup tie in five years since beating Port Vale under Stuart Gray, and Burton Albion shortly after Eddie Howe's arrival, knocked out of the competition at the third round stage in the last four seasons.

They face a tough task to avoid a fifth-successive third round exit at Championship leaders Boro, but Mee, despite having one eye on the promotion chase, is eager to do well in the world's best knockout competition:
