A MAN has been hospitalised after crashing into barriers on the M65 this morning.

Firefighters and paramedics attended the incident at around 11.30am.

A black Volkswagen car collided with the barriers Eastbound, between junctions eight and nine. 

One lane was closed, causing minor delays.

The fire service confirmed there was no one trapped in the car.

Paramedics attended to a male at the scene who has been taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

John Miller of Colne said: "The car looked to be in a pretty bad way.

"It was facing the wrong way in the road and both windows had been smashed, traffic was backing up about half a mile up the road."
