BURNLEY are set to be reimbursed by Liverpool for striker Danny Ings in the New Year, after submitting their claim to the Professional Football Compensation Committee.

Ings moved to Anfield in the summer at the end of his four-year contract with the Clarets, but they are due compensation because he is under 24.

The two clubs were unable to reach an agreement on a figure for the former Bournemouth youngster, with Liverpool willing to pay around £6million while Burnley wanted up to double that amount, triggering the need for a tribunal.

The Clarets have now put forward their case backed up by evidence of Ings’ development during his time at Turf Moor.

Shortly after leaving the club he was called up to the England squad and made his debut for the Three Lions against Lithuania last month.

Liverpool have now been asked by the Premier League to submit their valuation of the player, who is currently recovering from surgery to repair anterior cruciate ligament damage.

The PFCC is expected to meet in January.
