A CAR thief who stole a Land Rover in East Lancashire using a set of master keys has been jailed for 10 months.

Police pulled over a Land Rover in Rishton as it matched the description of a vehicle taken outside a home in Burnley. Alan Beck, 20, a disqualified driver, swapped places with passenger Lewis Creighton after parking up, Burnley Crown Court heard.

But police spotted the switch and Beck, of The Stables, Aspull Common, Leigh, later admitted motor vehicle theft, going equipped for theft and driving while disqualified.

He was also banned from driving for 12 months when he was jailed by Recorder Harry Narayan.

Creighton, 21, of Sandy Lane, Lowton, near Leigh, admitted handling stolen goods and going equipped. He was given a six-month suspended prison sentence.
