TWO doctors’ surgeries are moving to new premises giving a landmark building a new lease of life.

From Monday, November 23, the former Chorley Cottage Hospital on Gillibrand Street will become home to the Chorley Surgery.

The practice currently has two sites at Collison Health Centre site (previously known as Dr Bamford and Partners) and the Cunliffe Street (previously known as Cunliffe Medical Centre).

The Gillibrand Street building has been unoccupied for several years since Chorley Community Housing vacated it to move to St Thomas’s Road.

A spokesman for Chorley Surgery said it was fitting that it will once again become a place to treat and manage our patients.

She added: “The decision to move to a combined site was not an easy one.

“However, operating across two sites is not ideal for our patients and staff.

“We are very happy to have found a new premises that is almost exactly half way between the two current sites and we believe it will allow us to continue to deliver quality general practice services but also to continue to improve them.

“The other two practices will close and all patients will be seen at our new premises at 24-26 Gillibrand Street.

“We look forward to welcoming all our patients, past, present and future to our new site and we will be arranging an official opening soon after we move in.”

The practice still has a long term plan to move to the proposed new health centre to be built on Friday Street, close to the railway station.
