Attack denial

A BURNLEY man has denied a charge of sexual assault – alleged to have been committed on Boxing Day last year.

Patrick Joseph Baynes, 32, of Helmshore Road, Haslingden, pleaded not guilty to the offence during a preliminary hearing at Burnley Crown Court. He was remanded on bail for trial until July 4.

 

Motorist banned

POLICE alerted to a possible drink driver saw Mark Richard Mellor drive off from an Oswaldtwistle pub car park.

Mellor, 31, of Cumberland Avenue, Thornton Cleveleys, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

Blackburn magistrates gave him community supervision with a 10-day rehabilitation requirement, ordered him to do 100 hours unpaid work, banned him from driving for three years and ordered him to pay £150 criminal court charge, £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.

 

Drink driver fined

CCTV was used to track a drink driver.
Blackburn magistrates heard the car driven by Arron Jakovlevs was spotted in Accrington town centre and stopped by police on Burnley Road.

Jakovlevs, 24, of Haworth Drive, Bacup, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and without insurance.

He was fined £120 with £150 criminal court charge and £20 victim surcharge, and banned from driving for three years.

 

Assault trial

DEAN Farnworth, 21, of Brough Avenue, Radcliffe, Bury, was remanded on bail by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to assaulting Danielle Knott in Blackburn on August 12.

 

Woman, 27, pleads guilty

POLICE on patrol in Clayton-le-Moors pulled out of a pub car park and collided with another vehicle.

Leah Joanne Clarkson, 27, of Clayton Street, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and driving without insurance. She was fined £120 with £150 criminal court charge, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

She was banned from driving for 18 months after the court heard she gave a reading of 68mg against the legal limit of 35mg.
 

Drinks case

MEREDITH Hughes, 42, of Beaumaris Avenue, Blackburn, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £150 criminal court charge, £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Astley Gate.
