BLACKBURN with Darwen is in the top 10 for smoking rates in the UK, a new survey has revealed.
The research released by health watchdogs this week shows that 23.6 per cent of the adult population in the borough light up.

Blackpool came top of the list, with 26.9 per cent of its grown-up ranks smoke.
The latest smoking data, published by Public Health England, shows that the north of England ranks highest for smokers. Blackpool was followed in the top five by Kingston upon Hull, Manchester, Salford and Nottingham.
Blackburn with Darwen was sixth for smoking, with Hartlepool, Wakefield, North East Lincolnshire and Brighton and Hove making up the top 10. The place with the lowest rate is Wokingham, Berkshire, were fewer than one in 10 like a puff.
