WONDERING where to go this weekend to celebrate bonfire night? East Lancashire has lots of safe public displays to see the night out with a bang.

Blackburn is holding its 30th bonfire night at Witton County Park this Saturday.

Organised by the Blackburn Lions the night will feature a huge bonfire and a firework display.

There will be live music from local artists and a variety of hot food stalls.

President of Blackburn Lions, Les Browning, said public firework displays can be more beneficial to many people.

He said: “Hopefully having these fantastic displays on will stop the bonfires being made in the back alleys and other places they shouldn’t be.

“We put a lot of time and effort into making safe and family friendly events so the whole town can come down and enjoy it properly and responsibly.”

The bonfire will be lit at 7.30pm and the fireworks will be lit at around 8pm.

Entry to the Witton Park Bonfire will cost £2 for adults, £1 for children and a family ticket will cost £5.

Burnley Borough Council is holding a community bonfire and firework display at Towneley Park on Thursday.

The night will include a bonfire, fireworks and a funfair with food stalls.

On the night, the funfair will open at 6.15pm and there will be a junior firework display at 7.15pm followed by the main display at 8.15pm. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm.

Tickets are on sale at St Peter’s and Padiham leisure centres, Burnley Mechanics and Towneley Hall.

It will cost £3 per person or £9 for groups of four.

Woodgrove and Riverside car parks will be available on the night and will cost £5 per car.

Clitheroe’s annual bonfire night celebrations will take place at the Castle grounds from 6.30pm to 9pm on Saturday.

Thornton Hall Farm Country Park near Barnoldswick is holding a firework and bonfire night from 6pm on Saturday.
