A 70-YEAR-OLD woman caught stealing shoes from Debenhams offered to pay for the goods.
Blackburn magistrates heard Batool Bibi Shah had a lengthy record for shoplifting and had been sent to prison several times in recent years.
Shah, of Kilkerran Close, Chorley, pleaded guilty to stealing shoes worth £153. She was made subject to an electronically monitored curfew between 9am and 2pm for three months and ordered to pay £150 criminal court charge, £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
John Begg, prosecuting, said a security officer had seen Shah enter the store with her shopping trolley and saw her put a number of pairs of shoes in it before leaving.
Gareth Price, defending, said it was unusual behaviour for someone of his client’s age.
