Disqualified Blackburn driver jailed for six months

DISQUALIFIED driver Aristides Philippides, 51, got his wife Maria, 48, to say that she was behind the wheel of her Vauxhall Zafira three times when he was clocked exceeding the speed limit by the same camera.
Mr Philippides, from Blackburn, also asked his 79-year-old father-in-law to lie and say he was driving the car to save him receiving another ban – because he was already disqualified.
Philippides was jailed for six months after admitting four counts of perverting the course of justice. He was also disqualified from driving for one year.

Jason Fitton jailed after grooming 15-year-old girl

Jason Fitton, 35, of James Street, Great Harwood was jailed for two-and-a-half years after being convicted of grooming a 15-year-old girl over the internet.
Fitton, who was a keen ice hockey player, was given two months to be served consecutively for sexual activity with a child, two years to be served concurrently for meeting a child following sexual grooming and 28 months to be served consecutively for causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity.
This means the maximum sentence he will serve is 30 months. He was made subject to a sexual offences order and told to pay a victim surcharge of £120.

Heidi Marie Wilson, of no fixed address, admitted three charges of shoplifting. She was jailed for 16 weeks and ordered to pay a £150 criminal court charge and an £85 victim surcharge.
Shay Barnes jailed for raping a child at Blackburn house party

Shay Barnes, 18, of Crediton Close, Blackburn was locked up by a judge at Preston Crown Court after being convicted on two counts of child rape.
He was made subject of a sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in force until a further order is made by the court to lift it.
A recommendation was also made for him to be placed on the disclosure and barring list, which means he will have to declare his conviction when applying for any job that involves working with vulnerable people, including children.

David Allan Brown jailed after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of children in 1980s

David Allan Brown, 70, of Admiral Street, Burnley was jailed for nine years and four months after previously pleading guilty to seven offences relating to the exploitation and sexual abuse of children in the 1980s.
These included two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, inciting a girl under 14 to commit an act of gross indecency, two counts of taking indecent photographs of children and two counts of indecently assaulting a girl under 14.
