A DEPUTY head teacher who was dramatically ‘arrested’ in front of 400 pupils helped raise more than £2,000 for charity.

Age UK set up the stunt where they ‘jailed’ nine people, including Jude Gough, deputy head at Westholme Senior school, Blackburn.

All the detainees were charged and some were fingerprinted.

At Westholme, former student PC Sarah Harman ‘arrested’ Mrs Gough in assembly in front of over 400 pupils from the senior school.

Elaine Jennings, from Age UK, said: “The pupils had been told that Mrs Gough was unaware of the arrest. At school they raised money through collection buckets on the day and sponsorship from staff and parents and had raised a minimum of £685.

“All those jailed pledged to raise a minimum of £250 bail to secure their release.

“We expect to raise at least £2,000 .”
