A spokesperson for United Utilities has confirmed that work to repair a burst water main on Bolton Road will continue throughout the afternoon. 

A United Utilities spokesperson said: "Due to the complex nature of the repair to the burst water main on Bolton Road, work will be on-going throught the course of the afternoon."

The burst water main has left homes in parts of Chorley without water since early this morning.

The problem, which was reported by residents at around 06:00 this morning, affects homes in PR6 and PR7.

Two schools, Adlington St Paul’s Primary School and Anderton Primary School, have been forced to close due to the issue.

Residents took to Twitter to express their anger. 

 


 

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: "Our team of engineers are still on the site at Bolton Road and it is taking us longer than we expected to complete our repairs.

"We're sorry for the trouble this may be causing you."
