ARTHUR Bellamy bade an emotional farewell to Burnley fans during Monday night's Supporters' Clubs' presentation.

The former Clarets player, coach, assistant manager and groundsman retired last month but was presented with a special achievement award for long service to the club.

The 65-year-old requested that his retirement passed without fuss, but fans wanted to honour the work he has done at Turf Moor after first arriving as a 17-year-old, and he received a standing ovation from a packed James Hargreaves Suite.

"I didn't expect this," said Arthur, who had attended the event under the impression that he was presenting Graham Branch with an award.

"I've lived the dream. I had a brilliant time at the club and I'm finding it difficult in retirement."

Burnley manager Steve Cotterill made the presentation to Arthur.
