THE firm chosen to regenerate Brierfield's housing market has revealed its plans.

Multi-national redevelopment company Miller Regeneration was selected by Pendle Council's Housing Market Renewal Committee as lead development partner for the town's canal corridor project.

Its plans include canalside apartments, five-bedroom villas, and mews-style houses and bungalows for the two sites off Clitheroe Road. There will also be up to 20 affordable homes for those affected by demolition.

Miller Regeneration will be responsible for building 103 homes across the regeneration area, and is hoping to retain the area's architectural style, while providing modern homes.

Coun Tony Greaves, Pendle Council's executive member for housing market renewal, said: "This new development will kick-start the revitalisation of Brierfield. It will be a place where people will be proud to live and visit. It will also provide an opportunity to show how it's possible to build new and modern homes, while respecting the area's distinctive canalside location."

Mike Lewis, Miller's managing director, said the development would play a key role in the regeneration of Pendle, and would improve prospects for future investment.

The company will work with a team of architects, consultants and community housing bodies throughout the project, and its initial proposals will be discussed by councillors in July and August.

Mr Lewis said: "Our aim is to bring new life into Pendle. The Brierfield canal corridor project is another fantastic acquisition for us and we are delighted to have been chosen as the preferred developer partner.

"We believe the new homes we are proposing will make a positive contribution in revitalising the local housing market, providing high-quality new homes built to modern standards."
