THE almost fanatical religious fervour we are witnessing from the anti-fracking (highly politicised?) campaigners raises questions about their hypocritical stance shown towards their everyday lives.

On a daily basis, they expect to have available cars/aircraft, central heating in their homes, a multitude of products made from oil, money raised from oil/gas licences that the government spends on our services.

Were they against North Sea oil/gas production, nuclear power and coal production – all bringing wealth and employment.

They do support wind farms that despoil our countryside, seaside and are massacring our bird wildlife, and solar panels that take more energy to produce and maintain than they will generate. They also don’t mind other countries benefiting from supplying us with oil, gas and coal from mining and fracking even if, unlike our own government, they don’t enforce high environmental standards.

Fracking will prove to be a third age of good fortune for our nation on energy, helping us become more self-sufficient at a time of threat to supplies due to the turbulence in Russia and the Middle East. As long as fracking is properly overseen by the government, we should welcome the positive economic benefits that it will bring.
