A RIBBLE Valley private school has revealed plans to build eco homes on surplus land.

Oakhill College in Whalley has submitted the proposal to Ribble Valley Borough Council which is due to make a decision before the end of the year.

The college submitted a plan for a series of homes on the site earlier this year but withdrew it before the council came to a conclusion.

The application includes six eco homes and nearby residents have until Thursday, September 17, to send their views to the council before a decision is made.

A spokesman for the applicant said: “The proposal represents a small scale rounding off of urban development on the northern edge of Whalley, bringing into use rough grazing land that is surplus to the college’s requirements, and filling a gap between existing established properties fronting Wiswell Lane and the Lawsonsteads development.

“Concerns raised in pre-application verbal and subsequent advice are fully addressed.”
