NORTH WEST personal injury solicitor Sucheet Amin has advised residents affected by the recent water scare to keep a diary of their symptoms.
He said detailed medical records were essential to claim compensation because of the cryptosporidium parasite.
Mr Amin gave his advice as the “boil water” alert for 300,000 households in the county including Chorley borough, Mellor Brook, and part of Mellor entered its third week.

Mr Amin, from law firm Aequitas said: “I am already aware of a number of people who have suffered very nasty stomach upsets which they believe link directly back to drinking tap water.
“Thankfully, United Utilities has confirmed that compensation will be paid, however, they have not published details of how they will assess each claim.
“I would recommend anybody in the affected area who has suffered with nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhoea to keep a diary outlining their symptoms, and then consider taking legal advice.”
A United Utilities spokesman said: “We will compensate all individuals affected.
“It will be fair and comprehensive scheme but individuals should consult their GP and keep records and businesses present accounts for the period this year and last to show their losses.”
