THE wife of a 51-year-old lawyer stabbed to death in Chorley has been charged with his murder.

Sharon Edwards, 42, of Parkers Wood Close, Chorley has been charged with the murder of her husband David Edwards.

Police were called to the couple’s home on Parkers Wood Close at around 8.20pm on Sunday where Mr Edwards was found with a stab wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead  at the scene. 

Edwards has been remanded into custody and will appear at Preston Magistrates this morning.

The 42-year-old was held after well-known solicitor David Mark Edwards was found stabbed at his £300,000 four-bed house at the weekend.

The development came as Mr Edwards' former colleagues paid tribute to the lifelong Chorley FC fan and pledged to help detectives investigating his murder.

Simon Robinson and Vicky Nicolson, from Kevills Solicitors, said in a statement: "The partners and staff at Kevills inc. Stanley H. Cross & Co. were shocked and deeply saddened to hear about the death of David.

"He was a talented criminal defence solicitor who we had known personally and professionally for many years.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with David’s family and friends.

"As there is an ongoing police investigation we are unable to add any more at this stage, save to say that we will be providing the police with all the assistance that we can as they continue to investigate."

The father-of-one had recently returned from Las Vegas, where he married his wife Sharon at the iconic Little White Chapel in June.
