A WOMAN, 49, who went into a petrol station at 5am to buy cigarettes lost her cool when her card was declined.

Blackburn magistrates heard Andrea Clarke threw the card at the assistant before going outside and knocking over a sign. She then picked up a bottle of screen wash and threw it at a Post Office van, cracking the windscreen.

Clark, of Portland Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage. She was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge.

The court heard Clark had been offered a conditional caution as long as she attended a programme.

Gareth Price said that had not been possible because his client had mental health problems which had resulted in her being sectioned.
