The 28-year-old from Oswaldtwistle was helping to cover the costs of his mum’s funeral with his sister Kelly before he died and his friends have now taken up the task to relieving the financial burden from her.

Kelly Collins, who has set up a JustGiving website, said that she wanted to do all she could help the family who now have two funerals to pay for.

Lorraine Whyte died suddenly in May and Kyle had agreed to split the costs with his sister before he died.

With two funerals now to pay off, friends have rallied around the family in a bid to raise £3,500 towards Lorraine’s funeral costs.

Accrington resident Kelly, who has known the family for 15 years, said: “This is something that Kyle would do for me and I just want to help as much as I can. It was something that we talked about shortly before he died and he was very keen to help his sister our as much as possible.

“You just can’t believe what the family have been going through over the last few months.

“It’s important that the community comes together to help them out at such a difficult time for them and give them one less thing to worry about.

“We have raised just under £200 so far but we have had more people sharing the website link than donating.

“If we could get more people to donate then that would be fantastic and would be a massive help to the family.”

Roisin, who lived with her husband and three children in three Brooks Way, said: “The support that we have had from friends has been overwhelming and we are so grateful.

“It has been such a horrible time for everyone.

“It’s amazing that people are donating money to help the family with these costs and I can’t thank people enough.”
