A DAD-of-three died suddenly in his sleep just hours before he was set to go on holiday.

Kyle Whyte was discovered not breathing by his wife Roisin who administered CPR in a desperate attempt to save his life.

Despite the help of a team of paramedics who quickly arrived at his Oswaldtwistle home, the 28-year-old was unable to be brought back to consciousness and passed away.

Mrs Whyte said his family had been left with questions over the exact nature of her husband’s death after his post mortem came back inconclusive. Further tests will not produce results for another six weeks.

Mrs Whyte, who lived with Kyle and their three children Cael-Lukas, six, Daegan, five, and Alaena, one, in Three Brooks Way, said: “I just can’t believe what has happened and I’m struggling to come to terms with it all.

“I miss him so much and he was such a good person and dad.

Mr Whyte was placed on medication after being involved in a serious car accident in 2008 which left him with multiple long-term injuries.

The collision in Harvey Street, Oswaldtwistle, which saw a car lose control and crushed him into a wall, left him in a coma and fighting for his life with broken bones all over his body.

At the time Mrs Whyte tried to keep him conscious until paramedics arrived.

He suffered a fractured skull, eye sockets, jaw, nose, cheek bones, neck bone, ribs, knee bone and shin, as well as internal injuries and a number of cuts requiring stitching.

Mrs Whyte said: “We had just booked a holiday to Tenerife and we were getting ready to go the next morning.

“He had taken his medicine but stayed up with me to help me pack.

“He said that he felt a bit woozy because of the medicine and when you take it you are supposed to go straight to bed and not stay up.

“We then went to bed finally and everything seemed ok.

“When I got up in the morning he was snoring and I went downstairs for two minutes to make a bottle up for the baby.

“When I came back upstairs I noticed that he wasn’t breathing and my heart just stopped.

“I started to give him CPR and I called for an ambulance.

“I just did not think what was happening was real.

“The paramedics managed to get his pulse back but he did not start breathing again.

“The family and I and all his friends are absolutely devastated and we all miss him so much.

“I don’t know if his accident in 2008 had anything to do with his death and we will have to wait until the inquest is held.

“He was such a wonderful person and I can’t believe that he is gone.”

The former Accrington and Rossendale College student was due to start a teaching assistant course at Blackburn College in September and had previously been a painter and decorator.

He was born in Accrington and had also attended Benjamin Hargreaves Primary School and St Christopher’s CE High School in the town.

He had four sisters and a brother and married his wife Roisin in 2009.

The funeral will take place at 1.45pm on Friday, August 21, at St Paul’s Church in Plantation Street, Accrington.
