A 22-YEAR-OLD man who was caught stealing while on prison licence was told if there was any more offending he could “pack his toothbrush”.
Blackburn magistrates heard the probation service had decided not to recall Andrew James Smith, 22, to prison. And the presiding magistrates said he was lucky to get another chance, adding: “If there is another offence you can pack your toothbrush.”

Smith, of St Peter Street, Blackburn, admitted stealing speakers worth £15 from B&M Bargains. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge, £85 costs and £150 criminal court charge.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client realised he was fortunate.
