Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-month-old girl suffered a broken leg following a collision in Darwen.
The accident happened at around 12.15pm this afternoon (Thursday 30 July) on Edmund Street when a red Citroen DS3 lunged forward while the engine was running. The car travelled a short distance and collided with the little girl after she ran outside from a nearby house.
The girl sustained a broken leg and was airlifted to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital where she remains.
Sgt Tracey Ward of the Road Policing Unit said: “This little girl has been seriously injured as a result of this collision and we are still trying to establish exactly what has happened. I would urge anyone who witnessed the accident or who has any information that could assist with our enquiries to get in touch.”
