A GANG of ‘armed’ men with bandanas across their mouths robbed two teenagers in a Blackburn park, police said.

Officers said the victims, a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were approached by three men in the wooded area of Witton Park at around 6.30pm on Sunday, July 12.

The gang then demanded the pair hand over their phones and pin-code numbers.

The victims gave up their phones, an iPhone 5 and a black Nokia Luma, but the girl refused to provide her pin and was then threatened by one of the thieves who claimed he had a knife and would stab her.

The same man is said by police to have then demanded that she and her friend hand over their money, to which she replied that she didn’t have any. Her friend had his wallet taken from his bag and £5 was stolen.

The girl was then pushed into a bush and one of the men tried to pull a gold ring from her finger. But police said that she hit out and the three men ran off in the direction of Buncer Lane and through to Wensley Road chased by passersby.

Detectives investigating the robbery have now issued CCTV images of three people they want to speak to.

DS Louise Briggs said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for this boy and girl who are still understandably shaken following this incident “To not only rob a person but to actually try and steal a ring from someone’s finger is despicable.

“I urge anyone who recognises these men to get in contact with us at their earliest opportunity.”

All three men are described as Asian, slim, in their late teens to early 20s, and around 5ft 8ins.

One of the men was wearing a dark-colour tracksuit and a black bandana across his mouth. He was also wearing trainers with a blue sole. He was also was wearing a black bandana across his mouth and trainers with a red sole.
