THEY say life imitates art, which may go some way to explain why professional wedding singer Josh Hindle is playing the lead role in Pendle Hippodrome's show The Wedding Singer.

And for Josh, 23, from Barrowford, it will be like just another night at work.

"I sing at weddings all over the country, " says Josh, who has sung from the age of 10 and professionally for three years.

"Performing as Robbie Hart, the wedding singer, is going to be so much fun, I can't wait. Whilst I personally have never been left at the altar like he has, I am very much looking forward to performing as a wedding singer on stage with an extremely talented cast whilst singing and dancing to that distinctive 80s style music.

"I normally sing Rat Pack and Swing, so this is a bit of a challenge for me as the music is quite 'rock' like but it's a challenge I'm looking forward to. If the public are looking for a show filled with amazing dance routines and great singing, they should book tickets for the show this September.

The show features original songs, laugh-along one-liners and cracking choreography with high octane dance routines and vivid costumes thrown in.

The show tells the story of Robbie Hart, a lad with a heart of gold whose dearest wish is to marry his fiancé Linda. However, she has other plans and Robbie is soon to find love right under his nose in the form of Julia, a waitress also chasing love, but, of course, things never run smoothly.

Jade Brett, who played Christine in the Youth Theatre’s Phantom of the Opera, will take on a very different role as Julia. Robbie’s backing group are David Smith, Sammy and Tim Mason, George ??. Laura Schofield plays Linda and Cathryn Osborne is Holly. Sam Crabtree plays Glen, and Rosie, Robbie’s grandma, will be played by Angela Schofield. The Wedding Singer is directed by Steve Grist with Lisa Manley as Musical Director. Vicky Royle has choreographed the energetic dance routines.

It will be staged at Pendle Hippodrome Theatre, New Market Street, Colne, September 22-26 at 7.30pm with a Saturday Matinee at 2pm.
