AN ASIAN family who went into a Clitheroe pub and asked if they could have coffee in the garden were racially abused by a customer.

Blackburn magistrates heard David Bradley rudely suggested the family should go back to their own country.

The family left the Rose and Crown but when the male member of the group returned and asked Bradley for an apology he refused and again abused the other man.

Bradley, 50, of Pemberton Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated threatening behaviour.

He was sentenced to 28 days in prison suspended for 12 months with a 30 day rehabilitation requirement and ordered to pay £125 compensation, £80 victim surcharge and £180 criminal court charge.

The court heard that hotel manger Michelle Harbold ordered Bradley out of the pub.
