Over 100 jobs went at DS Smith Paper Ltd in 2012 after the firm decided to concentrate on its plants in Devon, Kent, and Somerset.

The mill had manufactured paper since 1845, and was the only manufacturer of high-quality recycled presentation liners in the UK.

It also produced mottle, brown testliners and chip paper.

Now advertised by The Property Centre in Wallasey Road, Wallasey, the site, close to the M65, was described as being ‘ideal’ for housing or industrial waste, subject to planning conditions.

A spokesman said: “There are numerous parcels of land that make up the 37 acres including allotments and ponds.”
