A 31-YEAR-OLD woman who drove off after discovering her partner had been having an affair failed a breathalyser test.

Blackburn magistrates heard Carla Lyndsay Godoy’s partner had telephoned the police and tipped them off.

“It was not a pleasant evening for her,” said Richard Prew, defending.

Godoy, of Burnley Lane, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was banned for 17 months and fined £400 with £85 costs, a £40 victim surcharge and £150 criminal court charge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police heard details about a possible drink driver. They saw Godoy pull up outside her house with smoke coming from a front tyre.

“Despite the smell of smoke when the officer opened the car door he could smell alcohol,” said Miss Allan.

Mr Prew said there had been a “domestic” after Godoy found out her partner had been having an affair.

“Not surprisingly that lead to an argument,” said Mr Prew. “To defuse the situation she left the house but instead of going for a walk she got in her car and drove off. She had drunk a few glasses of wine.”
