A BLACKBURN children's home has received a positive Ofsted report following an interim inspection.

The home, whose location and name is not released to the public, was judged to have 'sustained effectiveness' after the visit at the end of March.

When it was last inspected in June 2014 it was rated as 'adequate'.

In the report, which was published this week, inspector Mandy Williams said: "A suitably qualified and experienced registered manager is in charge of the home.

"She has been managing the home for over five years.

"Positive relationships are evident between staff and young people.

"Young people indicate to their families that they like the staff and the time that they spend here.

"Some members of staff have left since the last inspection.

"The service is currently recruiting but in the interim, established staff are working additional hours.

"This has minimised any disruption to young people's care.

"Five requirements were made at the last full inspection of the home in July 2014.

"The registered manager has taken action to address the issues raised.

"An independent person has now been appointed to undertake the external monitoring of the home; the safeguarding policy has been suitably revised; and improvements are noted in recording restraints."
