A MAN who dragged a police officer by her hair after he was ejected from his girlfriend's home has admitted assault.

Carl Matthew Meadows, of Warmden Gardens, Blackburn, refused to loose his grip on the officer's hair and had to be taken to the floor by her colleagues, Blackburn Magistrates' Court heard.

The 50-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer in the execution of her duty.

He was made subject to community supervision for 18 months, ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work and must pay £100 compensation, £300 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police were called by Meadows' partner, who wanted him removed from her house. They explained he had no right to be there.

Miss Allan said: "He stood up and appeared to be getting ready to leave but suddenly grabbed the officer by the hair and pulled her back."

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client had been upset by the way he was treated by the police.
