A DARWEN thug who kicked a girl as she lay on the ground outside a nightclub could face jail after admitting two attacks.

Karl Dearn, 23, pleaded guilty to two separate violent assaults in the town last October.

The family of one of Dearn's victims said he had shown 'no remorse' for his actions and bragged about them on social media.

He was convicted at Preston Crown Court on May 26 of inflicting grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Dearn, of Snape Street, Darwen, carried out the two unrelated attacks on October 11 and October 31 last year.

In the first incident, he punched his 17-year-old female victim in the face during an altercation at Level One nightclub, in Market Street.

She suffered a fractured jaw after Dearn continued to kick her while she lay on the ground outside after she attempted to intervene in a fight between the defendant and someone else inside the venue.

In the second incident, Dearn and two other were walking along Hindle Street, Darwen, on their way to a Hallowe'en party when Dearn launched an 'unprovoked attack' on a male passer-by.

The CPS said Dearn kicked, punched and kneed the victim in the face. Dearn was arrested in November 2014 and charged in February 2015, before pleading guilty at a plea and case management hearing last month.

A relative of one of his victims said: "He has destroyed lives and I hope he is sentenced appropriately. I look at his Facebook page and he shows no remorse and continues making a mockery out of the crimes.

"I hope he is taken off the streets to protect the public. His victims are scared to leave the house and they have to rebuild their lives while he swans around town.

"It has had a major impact on those he injured, both physically and emotionally."

Dearn will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on June 26.
