AMERICAN roots rock band Larkin Poe will be headlining an evening of music in Darwen next month.

The Atlanta-based group are sister duo Rebecca and Megan Lovell, augmented by musicians Robby Handley (bass, keys and harmony vocals) and Marlon Patton (drums and percussion).

After years of being fiercely independent, with five self-released EPs and touring for three years without label support, the duo eventually decided to sign with RH Music and are now touring smaller venues in the UK as they look to make a name for themselves on this side of the pond.

They will be supported by rising country music star Lucy-May.

Recently tipped by Terry Wogan to be the next big UK country star, her first single Paper Heart was play listed by Radio Two.

Since then she has been making a name for herself in Nashville and New York working on her hugely anticipated next EP release Whirlwind, followed by the album of the same title name in the Spring.

The final act on the night will be Glasgow-based couple Paul Bain and Claire McArthur, known as Raintown.

One of the hottest country music acts in Europe, they performed at the inaugural Country2Country Festival at the O2 Arena in London with headliners Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood.

The trio will be performing at Darwen Library Theatre on Sunday, July 5, from 7pm, with tickets £16.
